One more for today, because there is never enough Batman. Peter Diamond takes on Burton’s 1989 original as an Apollo Gallery exclusive, and his dense linework was made for this movie. It just fits. Diamond hasn’t shown up on the site since Launch back in 2023, also through Apollo, and before that he handled Flash Gordon and Frankenstein for Vice Press. Good to have him back. Batman ‘89 is the movie that started all of this. Warner Bros got something like 50,000 angry letters for casting the guy from Mr. Mom as Batman, then Keaton went and shut everyone up. Anton Furst’s Gotham won the Oscar and still sets the standard for how that city should look on screen. The run is capped at 89 hand-numbered copies to match the year, a nice touch.
