Halloween and Day of the Dead make for a sharp pairing in this latest Bottleneck Gallery x Vice Press collaboration, one built around two very different kinds of horror imagery. Matt Ryan Tobin’s Halloween II poster keeps things stripped down and mean: Michael Myers looms in close-up, mask blank and heavy with shadow, while a scalpel hangs in his hand and small autumn leaves drift through the negative space. The Japanese variant pushes the design in a different direction with oversized vertical type, a wireframe-style background, and a busier layout that feels like a proper import one-sheet rather than just a text swap. It will also pair well with his original Halloween print, released all the way back in 2022 — and if you’re looking to complete the pairing, we have a copy of the variant up for sale in our shop right now. Will Robson goes the opposite route for Day of the Dead, packing the composition with a mob of rotting faces and grasping hands clustered around Bub at center — his salute instantly setting the hierarchy of the piece while the rest of Romero’s dead press in from every side. The orange and blue giclée versions each change the mood a bit, but both let Robson’s gnarly linework and the dense character grouping do the work. Also, we love how the blue version gives a nod to the original Day of the Dead artwork.
