The Ralph McQuarrie showcase continues today with Wave 4 from Bottleneck Gallery, and the acrylic panels are back, with every piece in the lineup offered both as a fine art giclée and as a limited-run panel with a digital numbered COA issued by Verisart. The selection is a proper tour of the original trilogy’s DNA: the concept lightsaber duel that predates anyone knowing what a lightsaber even was, both takes on the Falcon’s Death Star pursuit, the cantina in its earliest wretched-hive form, a downed snowspeeder on Hoth, the space worm escape, Vader’s TIE bearing down, and C-3PO carried through Endor like the deity the Ewoks decided he was. Nearly fifty years on, these paintings are still the visual language of Star Wars. This is the artwork that convinced a studio the thing could exist at all.
