If things look a little different around here, you’re not imagining it. After five years of covering drops on the same creaky WordPress install, we’ve rebuilt Poster Pirate from the keel up. New design, new engine, same mission: report on the best alternative movie poster releases, and sell you the occasional grail from our own stash.
Here’s what actually changed for you. The site is fast now. Pages load near-instantly, on any connection, because there’s no database churning away behind every click. There’s a real site search (top right, or the magnifying glass on mobile) that covers every article we’ve ever written and every print in the shop, filtering as you type. The blog page has a new Featured Articles row for the evergreen pieces we keep pointing people to: Poster of the Year, Artist of the Year, the deep dives. And every one of the 1,800+ posts from the last five years made the trip, at the same web addresses, so your old bookmarks and links all still work.
The shop got the biggest upgrade. Checkout now runs on Shopify, which means real payment options (Shop Pay, PayPal, Google Pay, Venmo, or a plain old card) plus proper order confirmations and shipping notifications. You can create an account (top right) with nothing but your email, no password to remember, and see your order history and tracking. Sold-out statuses update automatically now, international shipping is live for 27 countries, and if you spot a print you’ve been hunting, the tag chips on every product page will pull up everything related we have. Same one-copy collectible inventory as always; it’s just a much better place to buy it. And because a relaunch deserves a little celebration, we’ve added a batch of new prints to the shop, with more on the way soon. Have a browse and see what’s new.
Below decks, for the curious
The old site was WordPress and WooCommerce doing their best. The new one is a modern split: the site itself is completely static. Pre-built pages served from a global CDN, which is where the speed comes from, while Shopify handles the commerce heavy lifting behind the scenes. Moving five years of content meant migrating 1,800 posts, shipping 7,400 images to a new CDN, and mapping every old URL to its new home so nothing got lost at sea.
Poke around, kick the tires, and if you find something broken or weird, tell us and we’ll fix it fast. And if you want the day’s drops in your inbox before they sell out, the newsletter signup is at the bottom of the homepage, same as always.
